T-shirt printing is the process or art of painting on a t-shirt.  This can be an image, intricate design, logo, lettering, or brand is printed onto the shirt by using one of several printing methods.  Some companies have their company’s name put on t-shirts that their employees were when they are working.  Others are printed and used to sell at various craft shows or online.

There are three primary printing techniques used for Singapore shirt printing, which will be discussed in this article.  Each printing technique has its advantages and disadvantages.  The most popular one is screen printing.

    Screen Print

This process has been in existing for many centuries.  In China, it was done using silkscreens but today, it can be done by machinery or by hand.  The main reason that this method is so popular is the quality of product this method produces.  The inks in this process are thicker than other printing techniques.  This gives you a long-lasting product with more vibrant, accurate colors in the design.

Always make sure that you get top-of-the-line ink.  The lower-quality ink will give you a design that is poor-quality that will fade quickly.  Using this method for tshirt printing is the method to choose if you are having bulk items printed out.  It is not the best method if you are only needing a few shirts.

One of the main cons with screen print is that it takes a large work area and the designs with different colors take a longer time to set up.

    Direct to Garment

This is the newest addition to Singapore shirt printing. It uses modern inkjet technology to print the design or logo directly onto the shirt.  The prints reflect accurate colors, give you a high-quality look, and when touching it, it feels smooth to the touch.  The machines for this type of printing can be very expensive to purchase so it is not for a home business.

Using this method, there are no color limits with intricate designs.  One of the cons of this method is that it works best if you use cotton.  On other fabrics, it will work but the colors will not be vibrant.

    Heat Transfer

With this method, you will use a heat press machine to meld the design to the t-shirt.  The materials and machines are cost-effective and work great if you want to start a new home business.  The design is printed digitally on a special heat transfer paper.  Then it is placed on the shirt and then iron is used to transfer the print from the paper to your shirt.

Although some feel that you do not get top-quality t-shirt printing, you can with this method.  The one drawback with this method is that over time, the designs may fade away quickly and crack if the method used is not done correctly.

    Conclusion

The method used will depend largely on whether you are doing it at home, the number of items you need, and more.  Study each method and choose the one that best suits your needs.
