Hair extensions can give your hairstyle a fresh, beautiful look and an instant metamorphosis. Using them, however, may weaken your strands. If you extend your hair regularly or plan to do it in the nearest future, think about strengthening your hair first. Here are some ways you can do so.
There is a no faster and easier way to change your hairstyle radically than using clip in extensions. It’s a perfect remedy for anyone that made a missed decision by cutting hair short. If you don’t want to wait for your hair to regrow or want to achieve a wow effect for a special event, hair extensions are a perfect solution.
It’s worth remembering, however, that using them can be damaging for your hair. A lot depends on the choice of the extension method. For instance, the clip-in extensions can be a little more damaging than pre bonded hair extensions since they’re attached to your hair strands. The lenght matters, too. The popular 12 inch hair extensions will be less invasive for your natural hair than, for instance, 20-inch.
If you use repair and strengthening treatments regularly, your hair will not be that affected by the usage of hair extensions. Which methods and products are worth trying out?
#1 Oiling
Applying oils on your hair can repair the cuticle and provide your strands with a protective coat. This way, the hair keeps more moisture since the emollient doesn’t let it escape. It’s crucial to adjust the type of oil to your hair’s porosity. The high-porosity hair is like non-absorbing oils, while the low-porosity hair prefers the light, easily absorbed the butter and coconut oil.
#2 Scalp masks
To strengthen your hair, it’s also important to take care of your scalp. By applying the products directly on it, you can reach the hair roots, stimulating its growth and repair. While doing it, make sure to softly massage the skin, improving the absorption of the active substances. Which can strengthen your strands? We recommend using
#3 Conditioner-shampoo-conditioner hair washing method
This solution is particularly recommended for high-porosity, thin, and dry hair. It allows protecting the strands from the negative influence of sulfates – the deeply purifying substances present in most shampoos available on the market. Sulfates (SLS and SLES) remove the excess oil and impurities, but they can dry up your hair and damage the cuticle.
Applying the conditioner first allows you to create a protective layer on the hair’s surface, preventing the absorption of sulfates. After that, you use the shampoo, massaging only the top of the scalp, where the concentration of sebum is usually the highest. Then, you wash off the shampoo and apply the conditioner for a second time.
